A History of Hollywood Hotels

Hollywood has long been a draw for tourists from all over the world, and even its early days, has had a history of many hotels to cater to the traveler. While we are currently experiencing a hotel boom, Curbed LA looks back at some of the hotels that have come and gone over the years.

The Glen-Holly was the first hotel in Hollywood, built in 1895.

The Hollywood Hotel was perhaps Hollywood’s most grand hotel, which was located on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue from 1902 to 1956.

The Hollywood Hotel, built by early Hollywood developer H.J. Whitley, survived for just over half a century.

Just this year, we have seen Mama Shelter open to rave reviews, and there are several hotels set to open in the near future.
