Dillon’s: Back in Business

By Devin Strecker

June 4, 2014

For several years, Dillon’s Irish Pub & Grill was a hub for sports fans, tourists and nightlife at the famed intersection of Hollywood and Vine.  Known for its $3 beers, sprawling interior, and lively atmosphere, it always attracted a large crowd.  Then suddenly, it was gone… only to pop back up again half-a-year later, down the street at a new location: 6327 Hollywood Blvd.  The establishment opened its new doors on St. Patrick’s Day 2014.

According to general manager Kimberly Abbadini, the owner of Dillon’s and the landlord felt it necessary to part ways. Soon after, The Tavern on Hollywood closed down, and the location became available. Only a 100 yards or so from the original Dillon’s location, it was perfect for the Dillon’s concept!

“There were many detailed changes that had to be done to make it feel like Dillon’s,” Abbadini said.  “We exposed the beauty of the building – the high ceilings, the fireplace, the spacious seating area. We darkened the wood, added crown molding, wood floors, 150 inch jumbo screens, etc.”

She says the place “feels like home” now.  “We wanted to do it right.  Some people expected us to pick up where we left off, but realistically it doesn’t happen that way.  We didn’t expect our customers to wait around for us.  We have to work our butts off to win them back . Our staff was specifically hired to create the ultimate guest experience to make that happen.”

Very little has changed with regards to offerings and prices. NEVER  a cover charge for any event, including MMA fights, boxing matches, Super Bowl, NBA Championship games, etc. Management had already begun tweaking the menu slightly before closing at the former location.  They now have 22 beers on draft, and they plan on changing them around to see what customers like. Of course they still have the $3 beers!

Now, they are gearing up for the World Cup (June 12 – July 13), during which they will be opening each day at 8:30 a.m. as opposed to the usual 11:00 a.m. (which also means they’ll be featuring some new breakfast items).  They are the official bar of the American Outlaws, the support team for the United States National Soccer Team, and will be running specials and hosting events all throughout the World Cup tournament.
