Glamorous Nails in Hollywood

By Genie Davis

August 29, 2016

Beautiful, glamorous nails make everyone a star in Hollywood. From small stylish shops to sophisticated contemporary space, you’ll find the perfect spot for manicures, pedicures, and more.

The Painted Nail at 6250 Hollywood Blvd., is a beautiful salon with crystal lights, and soft, cushioned pedicure spa chairs. The luxuriously relaxing environment is the perfect setting for a nail salon that’s all about nails, rather than a variety of additional services. Owner Katie Cazorla opened the salon in 2008, creating a comfortable yet chic environment with a focus on friendly and experienced technicians. The goal: to have customers who love getting their nails done. The salon has been featured in television programs and even had its own reality series, Nail Files. But the vibe is all about the customer, and providing high quality nail services. Manicures and pedicures are performed using single-use-only abrasives, and plush pedicure chairs have no pipes in their bowls, to provide the ultimate in sanitization. The salon even logs its disinfectant procedures. Another focus: cruelty free, organic, and paraben free products, most made in the U.S. Cazorla carries Essie brand polish and her own TPN nail polishes.

According to nail tech Angela Rushing, “We do manicures and pedicures of all different kinds, including acrylic and hard gels. I’d say glitter is extremely popular right now, I see so many ladies getting that done, and of course rhinestones and ombre are fun and popular, too.”

Services range from a quick manicure that includes a soak, cuticle and nail care, and lotion with the customers choice of scent – current new scents include pineapple rum, sweet tea, and lavender, while other popular choices include Citrus Melonmint and Cupcake. The manicure is finished with a buff or polish.

Another customer favorite is The Painted Nail Organic Manicure which utilizes Moroccan Argan oil products, and is a hit with both men and women. Quickie and organic pedicures are also available. The organic pedicure adds a pedi-cookie callus stone into mix, which customers take home with them, and an extended, hot-towel massage. The Color Flash Manicure, a dry manicure that’s applied in two coats, dries in thirty seconds, and lasts up to two weeks is a popular alternative to soak-off gel nails,

Wynn Nail Spa, located at 1509 Vine Street, offers a sleek interior that includes cooly-modern light fixtures and relaxing jet spa chairs. Conceptualized by partner Eric Wynn, the salon has a clean and open look to match its range of color choices and nail designs. With patterns that evoke the tropics, raised palm tree designs, and even Pokemon creatures, nail art is everywhere at Wynn. Gel sets and fills, mani/pedi combinations, and natural acrylic sets and fills are all available, as are silks, and callus removal.

At Wynn, a full menu of other services are also available. Mink eyelashes that build volume, skin exfoliation that rejuvenates, and scrubs and masks that improve skin tone are among the additional services the spa offers. The spa features a variety of combination packages such as the Cosmopolitan Delight, which includes nail trimming and polishing, plus a hand and foot massage with hot lotion. An aloe vera crystal scrub and a clay mask plus soothing gel are the elements of the spa’s Aspen Icemint treatment, which also includes a warm towel wrap and hot lotion massage; while their top of the line combination treatment features facial scrub and mask plus the application of a peach paraffin wax for arms and wintergreen wax for feet, and a hot stone massage.

Wynn also offers waxing and threading to shape eyebrows, and provides bikini line and leg hair removal. And while massage is incorporated into several of the spa’s signature packages, Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, and shoulder massages are also available separately, as are a variety of facials.

Owner Tammy Vand says she’s been in business ten years. “I pride myself on caring for my customers,” she asserts. With a propensity to attract long term clients, this small, friendly salon offers jet spa pedicure chairs, and can create charming designs that include patterned French tips, beads, intricate and artistic flower designs, and rhinestones.
