Rhymes & Rhythms: L.A.’s Poet Laureate Backed by The Doors Drummer John Densmore

The Hollywood Arts Council and friends will present its Rhymes & Rhythms: L.A.’s Poet Laureate Backed by The Doors Drummer John Densmore Sunday May 24th, 3.00 pm at the historic Montalban Theatre, 1615 Vine St, Hollywood,CA, 90028.
Hear the intimate writing and spellbinding stories of Los Angeles’ Poet Laureate Luis Rodriguez as he weaves his words over the thundering rhythms of John Densmore, the legendary drummer of The Doors. In a fascinating mix of music, history, poetry and art, Rhymes & Rhythms will combine Rodriguez’s L.A. experiences with Densmore’s, featuring not only two sides of this diverse metropolis, but also two eras of its creative output.
Opening this one-of-a-kind performance will be youth poets from Project SOAR and the Get Lit Players, along with music by the Latin pop band Sin Color.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local school children with books and poetry, planting seeds for real community growth.
