Van Halen will shut down Hollywood Boulevard for a special concert that will air on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and will mark the band’s first U.S. television performance with original lead singer David Lee Roth, it was announced today. The street closure will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29 and will reopen at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31. The concert will take place Monday, March 30.
The band, which was founded in Los Angeles in 1974, also announced a summer/fall concert tour that will kick off July 5 in Seattle and conclude Oct. 2 at the Hollywood Bowl, with additional Southern California dates planned in Irvine and San Bernardino in July.
The Hollywood Boulevard concert will be broadcast over two nights — next Monday and Tuesday — on Kimmel’s late night talk show in conjunction with the March 31 release of “Tokyo Dome Live in Concert,” billed as Van Halen’s first-ever live album featuring Roth.
Recorded on June 21, 2013, in Tokyo, the CD includes 23 songs spanning all seven of the band’s albums with Roth.
