Welltopia: Healthy Treats that are Hollywood Chic

By Genie Davis

January 29, 2018

It may hardly come as a surprise that food as beautiful as it is delicious is available right in the heart of glamorous Hollywood. For a beautiful healthy treat, Welltopia on Highland Ave. is just the spot. The wellness bowls are as attractive as they are tasty, good for you, and good looking at the same time.

The bowls are the focal point of a menu that also includes a variety of bottled nut milks and jarred nut butters.

Welltopia offers a trendy, bright, and sleekly modern look along with a menu that operates from a simple concept. Diners choose the size of their bowl and a booster if wanted, such as organic açaí or pitaya. Then they choose one of seven variations on the wellness bowl concept, each of which comes with lush-looking locally grown organic edible flowers, and a piece of California honeycomb. The combination of the two make each of the bowls instantly Instagramable, and serve as a reminder that food can and should have aesthetic appeal as well as terrific flavor.

The bowls themselves are all nourishing, and range from hearty – such as the Funky Monkey – to lighter fare such as the Tropical Berries selection. But all the bowls serve as a delightful way to redefine breakfast or lunch.

Welltopia is a green company founded in Toronto, with a mission to make these meals healthier but also delightful to eat. Perfect for vegans, the bowls use all natural ingredients, no dairy, and absolutely no refined sugar.

Along with being good for you, the company is highly focused on being good for the planet, and uses only recyclable or reusable materials to serve their bowls, nut milks, and nut butters.

By keeping it simple and going for both taste and purity when it comes to ingredients, the company serves up food that is 100% natural, and made fresh daily – yes, even the nut butters and nut milks.

Now for the taste test: would you want to consume a bowl for breakfast or lunch? According to Welltopia staff, the founders are foodies and they’ve designed their bowls to taste terrific.

The Tropical Berry, arguably the lightest and simplest of the Welltopia bowls, has a lovely blend of berries and organic almond milk as its base – and the bowl comes with toppings that mirror these base ingredients: fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, plus organic almond slices, organic hemp seed granola, and organic shredded coconut. This fruit-centric bowl is one of the most popular offered, according to staff members.

The Funky Monkey is richer and denser, with a base made up of banana, chia seeds, organic fresh peanut butter, and almond milk. Toppings: fresh banana, blueberries, cacao nibs, organic hemp seed granola, and shredded coconut. The cacao nibs are especially terrific, giving diners a healthy taste that’s both chocolatey and sophisticated.

The Retoxology bowl brings veggies into the mix with broccoli, ginger, banana, pineapple and almond milk as a base, and toppings that feature honeydew melon, banana, blueberry, organic goji berries, hemp seed granola and coconut.

The Daily Energy bowl’s most unique base ingredients are bee pollen and goji berry; Hawaii Blast exudes tropical bliss with pineapple, mango, and coconut cream along with almond milk as its base. Strawberry, blueberry, coconut cream and almond milk make up the base for the Red White & Blueberry; while the Immune Fighter blends acerola cherry, banana, strawberry, pineapple, and bee pollen with its almond milk base.

While the bowls here are a terrific addition to Hollywood’s quick and casual dining choices, the nut milks Welltopia offers are a strong draw as well. While 100% natural Roasted Almond Milk may not exactly be a surprise these days, don’t miss out on the Walnut Goji mix, Black Sesame Spirulina Milk, Cashew Hempseed Milk, roasted hazelnut, or pistachio milk. Each uses purified water and is created from a healthful 100% natural roasted nuts or seeds. The same natural nut flavors are available in creamy jarred nut butters, too.

So, whether you’re “star-gazing” along the Walk of Fame, or heading off to work, Welltopia is a smart alternative to fast food, and one that looks every bit as luscious as it tastes.
